BJP high command has decided Vishnu Deo Sai is the new CM of Chhattisgarh. Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh CM names will the declaring on tomorrow and day-after-tomorrow respectively.
Vishnu Deo Sai has been declared the new Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh by the BJP high command. This announcement puts an end to speculation about who will lead the state. Vishnu was chosen after a meeting of the BJP’s 54 elected MLAs in Raipur. Previously, the BJP did not name a CM candidate when the election began. They won 54 out of 90 seats in the state legislature.
Vishnu comes from an Adivasi, or tribal, community. So selecting him appears to be a strategic move to strengthen ties with tribal voters. There was some thought that the BJP might pick an OBC or tribal person for the job.
Vishnu has been involved with the BJP since 1980. He currently represents the Kunkuri constituency in the state. Chhattisgarh has one of the highest tribal populations in India. This choice may be a way for the BJP to attract more tribal support in future national elections.
