Newly formed Government will start implementing guarantees from 9th December
The Telangana state cabinet held its first meeting today after the recent formation of the new Congress-led government. In a press conference following the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Sridhar Babu confirmed that two of the six promised guarantees would be implemented on the occasion of Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. The two guarantees are free bus transportation for women and increasing the financial limit to 10 lakhs for the Rajiv Arogya Sree healthcare scheme.
The minister further noted there would be in-depth discussions around implementing all guarantees. He stated officials were asked to provide complete details regarding state finances. “We need to understand the sources of government revenue and how much has been spent on public services from 2014 to present. A full accounting of all financial transactions in this period was requested,” he added.
On December 9th, the first session of the state legislative assembly will be held, where all members of the legislative assembly (MLAs) will take their oath of office. As previously reported, Chief Minister Revanth and other ministers have already completed their swearing-in ceremony at LB Stadium in the presence of the state governor.
