Here we are going to see about the India’s most successful company’s model XYLO.

Mahindra launched the brand-new Xylo model on 13th January 2009 after three years of preparation under the code name “Ingenio”. The project estimated to cost 550 crores and was launched to compete with the Innova and Tavera. Mahindra used foreign consultants such as Lotus Engineering from the UK for suspensions, AVL of Austria for engine development, Italy-based Stile Bretons for styling, and MIRA from the UK for aerodynamics and testing of the vehicle. Furthermore, local suppliers such as Visteon India, Rane TRW Steering, ALF Engineering, Lumax Engineering and Subro’s LTD were also utilized for the project.

Before the launch, Mahindra had not launched any new models from 2002 to 2009. After the launch, sales started in March 2009, and 3000 units were ordered for the full month. However, sales later declined, and it was believed that they did not meet the company’s estimates. In 2012, Mahindra released a facelift by updating the transmission, modern 202lt mHawk turbo-diesel engine, suspension, front fascia, smoked real tail lights, black out window pillars, and more. In June 2012, sales crossed 1,00,000 units. In 2013, minor cosmetic changes were made to Xylo. As of June 2015, five models (D2, D4, D6, H8, H9) were available.

Xylo was also launched in South Africa, Colombia, and some parts of Southern Asia and North African countries. However, the production of Xylo was stopped in 2019 due to strict BS VI standards and crash safety regulations. In 2018, Mahindra launched Marazzo to replace Xylo.Mahindra launched the brand new Xylo model on 13th January 2009 after three years of preparation under the code name “Ingenio”.
